Western Kentucky Gets Matthew Horton
By Kirven Lang
What a surprise it was for Matthew Horton to verbally commit to Western Kentucky on a surprise unofficial visit this weekend. With three official visits set in September, Horton decided to call it wraps before any of those visits could take place. He had visits lined up to Arkansas, Georgetown and Middle Tennessee in September.
Horton blew up in July after his improvement during the off-season and his performances at Juco Report's July events. That's when Western Kentucky's staff extended an offer shortly after the Juco Report Elite 150 and remained on hand the next weekend at Juco Report Top 100.
"Western Kentucky has a beautiful campus. The teammates treated me like I was already part of the family and I will not take anymore visits." said Horton on his decision.
With all the attention focused on Mitchell Robinson these past weeks, it may have seemed as if Western Kentucky had fallen out of the picture with Horton but clearly they had not. Horton is the first Alabama Junior College basketball player in the 2018 class to make his four-year decision.
